ASBN - Approved Nursing Programs

The Arkansas State Board of Nursing approves programs preparing registered nurse and practical nurse candidates for licensure. The Nurse Practice Act requires that the Board prescribe minimum standards, approve curricula and survey educational programs through its authorized representative.

In order to qualify for licensure as a nurse in any state in the United States, an individual must graduate from a board approved nursing program. The Arkansas Board of Nursing has set minimum standards that each educational program must meet in order to obtain initial approval and maintain continued board approval. These standards can be found in the Rules, Chapter 6.
