Pharmacy Services & Drug Control
The mission of the Arkansas Department of Health is to ensure the protection of public health by minimizing health threats and promoting good health for the state of Arkansas.
Through the Pharmacy Services and Drug Control program, ADH provides information and assistance regarding drug recalls from the Food and Drug Administration, performs drug destruction of controlled substances, regulates and investigates legitimate drug handlers to ensure accountability, oversees scheduling of controlled substances according to Arkansas law and provides investigative services for Arkansas’s health professional licensing boards.
As part of its' investigative services, the Arkansas Department of Health contracts with the Arkansas Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) so that ADH can oversee the operation of the PMP. As a result,the Arkansas Department of Health ensures optimal Pharmacy Services and Drug Control.
