Although Lupus is widespread, awareness about it is lacking.  More than 90% of those who suffer with Lupus are women, most between the ages of 15 to 44. Lupus is more common in people of color, including African Americans, Latinos, Asians and American Indians. In order to bring awareness to this disease, the Arkansas Department of Health has partnered with the Lupus Foundation for Lupus Awareness Month this May and to launch In Living Color, a campaign to teach African American women how to have an improved quality of life with Lupus.
