The Preparedness and Emergency Response Branch of the Arkansas Department of Health is responsible for overseeing and coordinating programs that help prepare Arkansas communities for a natural or manmade disaster or other public health emergency. The Branch works with partners throughout the state such as the Arkansas Dept of Emergency Management, Hospitals, Community Health Centers, and others to ensure that communities are prepared to mitigate, respond to and recover from disasters that impact their community.
Training and Education
Preparedness and Emergency Response provides training to staff and partners throughout the state on preparedness activities and Emergency Support Function (ESF) #8. ESF #8 is the Health and Medical component of the National Emergency Response Framework. In Arkansas ADH Preparedness and Emergency Response is responsible for this function. Training is conducted to address areas needing improvement identified in drills and exercises.
