EMS Week

Parade of Lights - Emergency Vehicles on Parade in Little Rock

Virtually every type of emergency vehicle currently in use in Arkansas today will be on display in this year’s Parade of Lights.   The Parade of Lights will begin from its staging area at War Memorial Stadium on May 24 at 8:30 AM and proceed to the State Capitol.  All vehicles wishing to participate should line up at 9:00 AM.

All Ambulance Services, Fire Departments, Police Departments, Hazardous Materials vehicles, and First Responders are invited. It’s a spectacular sight to see them lined up all the way down Capitol Avenue from the steps of the State Capitol.

This year’s theme is “EMS:  More Than A Job. A Calling.” This theme reflects on the idea that EMS practitioners don’t choose this field for big salaries, comfortable working conditions, or 9-to-5 hours; they have a true calling to help and care for others in their hour of need.

The Parade will be  followed by a special honors ceremony during which one minute of silence will be observed to honor the contributions of the men and women of EMS. Special recognition for this year’s Arkansas “Stars of Life” and other state EMS leaders and introduction of an EMS Hall of Fame

Immediately following the ceremony a reception will be held at Noon at the Freeway Medical Tower, 5800 West 10th St. Suite 800, Little Rock.  All EMS providers are welcome.
