Food Packages: Participant Type | Food List | Infant Formula
The Arkansas WIC Program has experienced positive changes to the food packages. The new WIC food packages were implemented September 28, 2009. The new WIC food packages coincide with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the American Academy of Pediatrics Infant Feeding Guidelines. The new WIC food packages help to better meet our clients’ needs, by decreasing the amount of foods that are nutrient dense and adding a variety of more nutrient rich foods. Some of the foods that have been added to the WIC food packages are baby foods with fruits and vegetables for infants, fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables for children and women, a variety of whole grains, and a soy-based beverage as an alternative to milk for children and women.
