Renewal Requirements

ALL levels of licensure MUST complete the following:

  1. All relicensure fees
  2. A signed copy (front & back) of current CPR card. This can be any of the following as long as it meets the requirements set forth in EMS Rules and Regulations, Section IX. C. 1. c. (Page 43)
    1. American Heart Association BLS Provider
    2. American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer
    3. Other Nationally recognized CPR course for Heath Care Providers 

Details for all of the following can be located in the EMS Rules and Regulations, Section IX. C. 2. a-c. (Page 42 - 49), Instructor Requirements are in, Section IX. C. 3. (Page 49) (link to Rules and Regs for EMS (Community Paramedic) in Rules and Regs section)

Section 1: EMT requirements including ONE of the following:

  1. 24 Hour Transition/Refresher Course (Inc. 2 hrs. Pediatric CE); OR
  2. 48 Hours CE (Inc. 2 hrs. Pediatric Specific CE); OR
  3. 40 Hours CE following NCCP Requirements; OR
  4. Challenge and pass the NREMT EMT cognitive exam with documentation of skills competency from the services Medical Director or their designee; OR
  5. Submit a valid NREMT card for the period of renewal. State licensure will match NREMT renewal dates.

Section 2: AEMT requirements including ONE of the following:

  1. 36 Hour Advanced EMT Transition/Refresher Course; AND
  2. 36 Hours CE (Inc. 4 hrs. Pediatric Specific CE) 24 Hours must be Advanced; OR
  3. 50 Hours Following NREMT NCCP Requirements; OR
  4. Challenge and pass the NREMT AEMT cognitive exam with documentation of skills competency from the services Medical Director or their designee; OR
  5. Submit and valid NREMT card for the period of renewal. State licensure will match NREMT renewal dates.

Section 3: Paramedic requirements including  the following:

  1. A signed copy (front and back) of current American Heart ACLS card and CPR card; AND
  2. 48 hr Paramedic Transition/Refresher Course and 24 hours of Continuing Education; OR
  3. 72 Hours CE (inc. 4 hrs. Pediatric Specific CE); 48 hrs must be Paramedic Level; OR
  4. 60 Hours following NCCP Requirements; OR
  5. Challenge and pass the NREMT Paramedic cognitive exam with documentation of skills competency from the services Medical Director or their designee; OR
  6. Submit and valid NREMT card for the period of renewal. State licensure will match NREMT renewal dates.

Section 4: Instructor requirements include the following and the above documentation for your level of instructor licensure

  1. (12) hours of Continuing Education at the Instructor level. (required)
  2. Signed letter of good standing from the Training Site you are aligned with (required)
  3. CPR Instructor Card and ACLS instructor card if a Paramedic. (required)
     and (One) of the following:
  4. One (1) full EMT course teaching more than 50% of the course
  5. Two (2) EMT courses as co-instructor
  6. Forty-eight (48) hours of classroom instruction with a letter from the lead instructor or EMS Education Program verifying hours and topics of instruction taught.
