Increasing the number of breastfed babies in Arkansas is a priority for HAA, the 10-year, Governor-endorsed plan to increase the number of Arkansans who are at a healthy weight. Breastfeeding is linked to numerous health benefits for mom and baby. Moms who have support from the people and organizations around them are more likely to breastfeed.

With this in mind, HAA has partnered with JLLR to offer the Nursing Nook as a quiet place for breastfeeding mothers to nurse during the Holiday House event. Certified lactation consultants from Baptist Health, UAMS, and the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) will be on hand to answer breastfeeding-related questions. Meg Mirivel, ADH Public Information Officer, will also attend the tour with her three-month-old, Claire.
